How to leave UltaHost — 4-step migration
Order matters. Don't cancel UltaHost first — they may delete your data without warning (documented case: a Mumbai customer lost 100GB of business websites this way).
- 1
Back up everything
Download all files via SFTP/SSH. Export databases (`mysqldump`, `pg_dump`). Save DNS records (zone file). Export email if hosted with them. Keep a local copy AND an off-site copy (Backblaze, R2, S3).
- 2
Register at a reputable host first
Pick from the providers above. Spin up the equivalent instance, restore your code/data, and confirm it works at a temporary URL (e.g. test.yourdomain.com, or the provider's free subdomain).
- 3
Transfer DNS / point records at new host
Either transfer your domain registration away from UltaHost (if they're the registrar), or update your A/CNAME records to point at the new host's IP. Wait 48 hours for DNS propagation worldwide.
- 4
ONLY NOW cancel UltaHost
Confirm the new host is serving traffic correctly for at least 48 hours. THEN cancel UltaHost service. If they refuse to refund and you paid by card, file a chargeback (see /for-victims). If you paid by crypto, you cannot refund — but at least you've stopped further charges.
A note on bias
We have no commercial relationship with any provider on this page. UltaHost runs an up-to-70%-commission affiliate program paid in cryptocurrency; we have not joined it, and the providers listed here all run mainstream 20–40% commission programs we have similarly not joined. If you find this comparison useful, the best thing you can do is share it.
